Vacant homes for sale targeted
BUTLER TWP — The owners of vacant homes for sale in the township as well as their agents are being told to keep an eye out on their properties after several were broken into and copper pipes were stolen.
The latest break-in was discovered Saturday at a house in the 500 block of Whitestown Road, where an unspecified amount of water pipes was removed from the basement.
Police noted the house was vacant and had a for sale sign in the front yard.
The burglary is similar to several others throughout the township over the past week or so.
Investigators advised homeowners not living in a house they are selling to check it on a regular basis.
Police asked neighbors, too, to be on alert.
Anyone who sees suspicious activity around houses that are up for sale are asked to call police at 724-285-9600, or 911.
