The botched execution of Christa Pike in Tennessee was absolutely horrifying. The Secretary of Defense (not War) Pete Hegseth has now announced that a military execution of former U.S. Army Maj. Nidal Hasan, by firing squad, will happen in early December. This barbaric event will be public and livestreamed!

Most of the countries around the world that have not already banned the death penalty never use the option. Significant countries that still do are China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iran and the U.S. Great company?

There is not evidence that the death penalty deters perpetrators and an analysis of those who are handed this sentence suggests a racial bias. Life sentences without parole are much cheaper when you consider the many appeals, court actions and planning for the execution.

Abolishing the death penalty is long overdue and a moral imperative. Where does your political candidate stand on this issue?
