Cold case rally set at police barracks

A national organization that helps families of missing people is holding a demonstration to draw attention to the unsolved deaths of two county boys who were found dead 18 years ago today.

We Can Bring You Hope is holding the demonstration at 11 a.m. Friday at the state police barracks in Butler to call attention to the deaths of Scott Fosnaught and Shawn Baur, who were 15 years old when they were found dead along Cashdollar Road in Forward Township during the early morning hours of July 17, 2002.

Fosnaught died at the scene and Baur died from head injuries in a Pittsburgh hospital.

State police at the time concluded that the boys had been hit by a car, despite the lack of skid marks or any other physical evidence of a collision.

Michelle Heilman-Bender of Valencia, founder of We Can Bring You Hope, said the goal of the demonstration is to draw attention to the case and other unsolved missing persons cases, and urge police to continue investigating.
