Edith A. McCoy, 98, of Zelienople went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on Wedn-esday at UPMC Cranberry Place.

Born May 16, 1908, in Konigsberg, Germany, she was the daughter of Christoph and Maria Pohlke Kallweit.

Mrs. McCoy came to the country when she was 18 years old and became a citizen in 1932.

She was a member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople, the Harmony Moose Ladies' Auxiliary, and the Zelienople American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Thomas Merton Center in Pittsburgh, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the Fellowship of Reconciliation.

Mrs. McCoy was a peace advocate who, while in her 80s, marched at a peace rally in New York City. She was also a talented seamstress whose work benefited several organizations and the local community. Mrs. McCoy had a great sense of humor and remained an avid bowler until her 93rd birthday.

She is survived by a daughter, Daryl L. Ford of Zelienople; a son, Terry R. McCoy and his wife, Joyce, of Sarasota, Fla.; two nieces, Edith Schindler of Fulda, Germany, and Doris Roettigere of Hamburg, Germany; nine grandchildren, Sam Ford, Scot Ford, Darla Ford Eisler, Cindy McCoy Keller, Susan McCoy McAteer, Stacy McCoy, Amy McCoy Silverwood, Lyle E. McCoy, Jr., and Terry McCoy. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John J. McCoy, who died April 28, 1980; a son, Lyle E. McCoy who died Jan. 18, 1987; two brothers and two sisters.

<B>MCCOY</B>— A memorial service for Edith A. McCoy, who died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 415 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, with the Rev. Dr. N. Graham Standish officiating. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Food Cupboard at Calvin Presbyterian Church, 415 E.
