Winner worth $300K

Point Plaza store sells Cash 5 ticket

BUTLER TWP — A Point Plaza tobacco store on Monday sold one of two perfect Cash 5 lottery tickets, netting a still-unknown person half of the game’s $600,000 jackpot.

Anku Bhalodia, who owns 3 B’s Tobacco at 116 Point Plaza, said lottery officials notified 3 B’s Tuesday that a customer had bought one of the two winning tickets on Monday.

Each ticket sold — the other was bought at a Giant Eagle in Dubois, Clearfield County — matched all five balls, 03-07-12-32-42, according to Pennsylvania Lottery officials.

Each winner will claim a prize of $300,000, less 25 percent federal withholding. The winners have one year to claim their prizes.

Because the prizes are so large, the winners can’t claim the money from the stores that sold them the tickets. They have to contact lottery officials directly or visit the organization’s regional offices.

Bhalodia said it’s the biggest winning lottery ticket the store has sold since she took over in June 2014.

“We sold one for like $30,000 a couple months ago, but never this much,” Bhalodia said. “This is the biggest jackpot we’ve ever sold by far.”

So far no one has come forward to claim the prize money.

Bhalodia said lottery tickets are one of the store’s best-selling items.

“We sell a lot of tickets, and many people have won (money) here and there,” she said. “Yeah it is (exciting). I hope we keep getting good winners every now and then.”

According to lottery officials, the stores that sold the winning tickets each will receive a $500 bonus.
