Man faces charges in school bus accident
ADAMS TWP — A Valencia man who was in an accident with a school bus in January is facing multiple charges from the incident.
Scott A. Sauter, 21, on Tuesday was arraigned by District Judge Wayne Seibel on charges of driving under the influence-controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and operating a vehicle without a valid inspection.
Sauter also waived his case to court.
On Jan. 21, at 8:35 a.m., Sauter was in an accident with a school bus on Route 228 near its intersection with Pittsburgh Street. No children were on the bus, and no one was injured.
Immediately following the crash, police noticed that Sauter appeared sluggish, according to court records. A search of his vehicle allegedly yielded five syringes and multiple empty stamp bags.
A test of his blood revealed he was high on lorazepam, for which he does not have a prescription.
He is free on his own recognizance.
