ZELIENOPLE — The 14th Youth Triathlon scheduled for June 18 was approved by borough council Monday evening.
The triathlon will use borough and Harmony roads and the borough community park.
Get Fit Families will need separate approval from Harmony council and the borough community park to use those areas.
“It’s a nice event,” Zelienople council member Mary Hess said. “It brings a lot of people from other communities to Zelienople. It’s a wonderful thing.”

ZELIENOPLE — Borough jobs were a topic at Monday evening’s council meeting. Kaylen Bailey, who has worked for the borough since last year, was approved for an employment extension and a 25-cent raise. Bailey will now be paid $9.25 an hour, effective May 1.
The borough has two positions for summer help, with Bailey being one of those employees.
Council also approved advertising hiring a temporary seasonal labor employee. The position pays $9 an hour. Applications will be accepted through May 20. “At my discretion, I will be able to hire the most appropriate person,” borough manager Don Pepe said.
