Mars-EC Road work slated for next week
Beginning next week, motorists who travel Mars-Evans City Road between Route 68 in Evans City and School Street in Mars will face road and drainage work.
The state Department of Transportation has announced that night road work from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. and drainage work during the day will begin next week.
Work on the $1.6 million project is expected to continue until the end of September, said Deborah Casadei, PennDOT District 10 spokesman. Shields Asphalt Paving is the contractor for the job.
“Motorists can expect lane restrictions on (Mars-Evans City Road) in the project area and a 10-foot width restriction from School Street to Black Rock Road for the duration of the project,” Casadei said.
The project will involve base repair and milling in addition to paving and drainage work.
Mars-Evans City Road begins in Mars and crosses Adams and Forward townships before reaching Route 68 in Evans City.
Casadei said motorists can check conditions on Mars-Evans City Road or any PennDOT project at www.511PA.com.
