To raise awareness for suicide, the Butler County Suicide Awareness Taskforce will host a speaker and remembrance walk Friday.

A short program will feature a speaker who lost a loved one to suicide and a message from Amy Peters, the director of the Butler County Mental Health Services. The program will take place at 5 p.m. at Grace Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St.

The walk, following the program, will start at Diamond Park and continue up N. Main Street to Penn Street.

The event aims to promote awareness and prevent suicide in the community.

In 2015, 24 Butler County residents died by suicide, according to a press release by the Butler County Human Services department.
