LANCASTER TWP — A woman was taken to Allegheny General Hospital Tuesday night after firefighters rescued her from her car on the southbound side of Interstate 79.

The accident was reported at 5:51 p.m., according to Butler County 911 records.

The driver was transported by Harmony EMS, there were no passengers and no other vehicles involved.

The car, a Kia, had rolled over several times and the driver was trapped and in pain when firefighters arrived, said Harmony Fire Chief Scott Garing.

They were able to remove the door and roof of the car and get her free 14 minutes after arriving on the scene, Garing said.

Garing said that the highway was slippery from rain and snow. State police are investigating the cause of the accident.
