In North Carolina, teacher's and administrator's salaries ARE a matter of public record. Our local independent paper prints them yearly. Most are making out quite well. Due to teacher's unions, merit-based (read free market)performance reward is all but impossible. Seniority is the primary, perhaps only, grounds for pay rate. All suffer as a result.
