Residents of Mars or Adams Township: What do you think of the merger proposal? Take this survey.
This upcoming election day, residents of Adams Township and the borough of Mars will make one of the most consequential decisions in Butler County’s political history — the decision on whether or not to merge the two municipalities into one township called “Mars Township”.
If voters in both municipalities vote “yes” on the ballot question, the merger would take effect by the start of 2028. If either municipality votes “no”, the merger question is off the table for at least five years.
Officials from both Adams Township and Mars have touted numerous benefits of a merged township, including lower taxes and 24-hour police service for Mars residents, a new downtown core for Adams Township residents, and a proposed new library for downtown Mars.
With one month to go before the midterm elections, the Butler Eagle wants to take the pulse of the electorate in Mars and Adams Township: What do you think of the proposed merger?
The survey is available at https://bit.ly/3W2Qz8A.
Note: The Butler Eagle asks that only residents of Adams Township and Mars borough take the survey.
