I really want to commend Butler city and state police for cracking down on the drunks who believe that they have the right to get into a vehicle and risk the lives of innocent people. My only wish is that judges would take this epidemic as serious as the people who are affected by these criminals. My aunt and uncle were hit head on a couple days ago by a irresponsible lady who thought she was capable of driving under the influence. Clearly driving down the opposite side of the road wasn't her intention but it didn't stop her from hurting 2 innocent victims. She could have easily killed someone, very possibly someone I love dearly as myself and many family and friends frequent and live near this road. There are 2 bars along this stretch as well..... within only a 1/4 mile of each other. My question is; why exactly didn't someone stop her from getting into her vehicle and leaving the bar in the condition she was in. People need to take responsibility for their actions but when they aren't capable of doing so themselves someone else needs to speak up. I have been to bars and I always get irritated when I see these so called adults walk out and get into a vehicle. I have taken precautions several occasions to tell the bartender that person is driving and that they have had enough. I think bars should be held more responsible as well for allowing people who are visibly intoxicated to keep buying alcohol. This lady was so out of control she had to be tasered at the hospital and refused to be tested. That is a sure sign that she knew she was in the wrong. This could have been someone in your family just as easily as it was mine, possibly even yourself. We need to take this stuff way more serious! I do wish to thank East Butler Firemen and EMT's for the awesome response time. They were on the scene within only a few minutes. These gentlement and ladies deserve all the respect we can give them, they save our lives and are there when we need them the most. I wouldn't ever take such a valuable resource for granted and support their fundraising efforts fully. Thank you so much for taking care of my family. You can't put a price on a life!
