I aree with the letter written to the editor in regard to Butler Hospital needing a pediatric ward. My daughter and I spent 10 hours in the Butler Emergency Room beginning of the month only to be transferred by ambulance to Children's because the extended care she needed could not be provided at Butler Hospital. She was not the only child that was transferred that day. A boy with what looked like a broken leg and an infant was among the train of ambulances heading to Oakland.

Children's did a wonderful job with my daughter and their care is top notch; however, the distance between Slippery Rock and Oakland is pretty significant and it made it hard for family to come and visit my daughter and give mom a chance to step away for a while.

Five days in a hospital in Pittsburgh was rough on my family. Wow, what a difference it would have made if we were closer to home.

I hope that Butler Hospital Administrators would consider working with area pediatric practices to see about the possibility of adding a pediatric section to the hospital.
