Woman charged with gas station robbery attempt

A 31-year-old Butler woman was charged with allegedly demanding money from a Pilot Gas station cashier and, when her request was denied, promising to return later.

Stephanie Lynn Evanoski is charged with one count of felony robbery and a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct.

State police received a report on the attempted robbery at the Pilot Gas Station in Muddy Creek Township on 12:52 a.m. Oct. 19. Police have issued an arrest warrant for Evanoski, who is described as a white female.

According to police, a cashier said that a woman came into the gas station wearing a surgical mask and asked the cashier to exchange her quarters for dollar bills. When the cashier opened the register, Evanoski demanded all the money, police said.

The cashier told her no, to which she responded, “you will be sorry” and “we will be back to get the money later tonight,” according to police. Outside, the suspect got into a Red Nissan that had covered license plates and drove away.

Police said they searched for a car matching the description through the License Plate Reader system, found a match and issued a be on the lookout alert. The next day, on Oct. 30, a trooper stopped the car and found Evanoski driving it.

Police said Evanoski matches the description of the female seen on surveillance video at the gas station.

Because she does not have a current residence, police issued the arrest warrant. They said she is also wanted for a warrant out of Erie County.
