Grace S. Slentz, 88, of Butler died at 4:15 p.m. Jan. 29 at the Chicora Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 10, 1919, in Allegheny County, the daughter of George Mathew and Ellen May Matthews Shilling.

Mrs. Slentz had been a volunteer foster grandparent and had been baptized Episcopal.

She is survived by a daughter, Ellen F. Slentz of Mays Landing, N.J.; a son, George M. Slentz of Dover, Del., and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Slentz was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund W. Slentz Jr., who died Oct. 20, 1991; a son, Edmund W. Slentz III; two brothers; and two sisters.
