Michael is exactly right. Metcalfe is a fraud. Moreover he is a compulsive liar.

When he was first running in 1998, Metcalfe campaigned as a "reformer" who would never morph into a career politician. He lied. Metcalfe said he would term limit himself. He lied. Metcalfe said he would not accept a lavish package of benefits (like free lifetime medical/dental care and an extremely generous pension plan) and perks (such as a $406 monthly SUV lease). He lied. Metcalfe said he would not use taxpayer-funded mailings and television commercials as campaign propaganda. He lied. The list goes on and on.

Metcalfe is a disgrace. But then again, we get the government we deserve. Because of rampant apathy among 12th District residents, we are stuck with a college drop-out like Metcalfe as our laughingstock.
