George I. Rudolph, 89, of Butler, formerly of Murrysville, died Saturday.

He was born Jan. 28, 1919, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Clyde Ashton and Erma Roll Rudolph.

He was a veteran of World War II and served with the Navy aboard the USS Lionfish as a chief radioman.

Mr. Rudolph retired as a draftsman for Westinghouse after 37 years.

He enjoyed ham radio (W3NW), attained the extra class of license in ham radio and was a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League.

He was an avid sportsman and a member of several sportsmen's clubs. He enjoyed trapshooting and photography and belonged to the Century Club. He also enjoyed Myrtle Beach during the winter.

George is survived by his wife, Ellen Kovick Rudolph; two sons, Edward (Rainelle) Rudolph of Bethel Park and Kenneth Rudolph of Murrysville; and five grandchildren, Brian, Matthew, Lisa, Kelly and Michael.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna G. Hodel.

<B>RUDOLPH </B>— Friends of George I. Rudolph, who died Saturday, June 28, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Hart Funeral Home</B>, 3103 Lillian Ave., Murrysville. A service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. William Opperman officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Dale Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
