Norvin D. Davidson, 85, of 140 New Haven Lane in Center Township died Monday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born in Grove City, Sept. 2, 1922, he was the son of Samuel R. and Martha Hazel Buckley Davidson.

He attended schools in Grove City and graduated in 1942 with a degree in chemical engineering from Grove City College. He retired from Witco, now Sonneborn, in Petrolia as a superintendent in the boiler house and the acid plant recovery operations after 40 years. During his career, he supervised plant start-ups of two Witco processes, one in India and one in Germany.

He served as an Army rifleman in occupied Germany and France. He also played trumpet with the 2nd Division Band and instructed buglers on various military bugle calls.

Mr. Davidson was a Protestant.

He enjoyed nature trail walks, reading, hunting and fishing.

Surviving are a son, Thomas G. Davidson of Butler; four grandchildren, Bret D. Davidson of Butler, Susan K. Davidson of Washington, D.C., Travis P. Davidson of North Hollywood, Calif., and Laurel B. Nudge of Newport News, Va.

His wife, Charlotte L. Morley Davidson, whom he married Jan. 1, 1946, died March 16, 2006. A daughter, Karyn D. Nudge, died Dec. 18, 1993; and a sister, Celeste Heinrichs of Oroville, Calif., died May 8.

<B>DAVIDSON</B> — Friends of Norvin D. Davidson, who died Monday, July 7, 2008, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the <B>Ficca Funeral Home</B>, 203 E. Pine St., Grove City. Services will follow at noon Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Swanson, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
