Patricia A. O'Brien, 77, of Butler died in her sleep with her family at her side Friday at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

May she find eternal peace and happiness.

Born Sept. 13, 1930, in Butler, she was the daughter of Andrew C. and Agnes Kelley Knause.

A graduate of Butler High School Class of 1948, her class voted her "Best Looking."

She attended nursing school at South Baltimore Hospital and Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. She returned to Butler; married; and raised a family.

She was a member of Saint Paul Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Merle J. "Noonie" O'Brien Jr.; a daughter, Cyndy, of Portland, Ore.; a son, Tom, of Butler; a grandson, Sgt. 1st Class Thomas O'Brien and his wife, Jessica, of Fort Benning, Ga.; and a granddaughter, Kelley O'Brien of Jeffersonville, Ind.

Pat was a loving wife and a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dr. John Knause of Mercer.

<B>O'BRIEN</B> — There will be no visitation for Patricia A. O'Brien, who died Friday, July 18, 2008.
