Gould

Gerald Wayne Gould, 82 of Slippery Rock died Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Aug. 1, 1925, in Franklin Township, he was the son of Paul Perry Gould and Hadassah McBride-Gould and husband of Marilyn Christie-Gould, originally from Hillards, who he married Oct. 15, 1955.

He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theatre as a member of the 3191st Engineer Company. After honorable discharge from the service in May 1946, he drove milk trucks, making pickup and deliveries between farms and the processing facility.

He moved to Slippery Rock in 1950 and held various jobs, including being a school bus driver for Snyder's Garage. He worked at Slippery Rock Motors until 1959, when he began work in the parts department at Cheeseman's Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealership, then Cheesman-Fleeger and then Frasiers.

He retired in 1990 but found great enjoyment in making parts runs for the Troy¿Alan auto dealership and making deliveries between branches of the First National Bank of Slippery Rock.

Mr. Gould was a member of the Highland Presbyterian Church in Slippery Rock and served as head usher for years in the 1960s and 1970s.

He was an active member in the American Legion Post 393 and served as a post commander. He enjoyed working on and driving his beloved 1948, but titled in 1947, Ford car, which he first bought in 1950. He also loved motorcycling and rode his Honda 750, which he called the "Big-4," through his 81st year.

In addition to his wife, Marilyn, also surviving are three sons, Donald Wayne Gould and his wife, Stacy, of West Lawn, Pa., Grant Jeffrey Gould and his wife, Kathleen, of Mountain View, Calif., and Lee Brian Gould and his wife, Vickie, of Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Patrick and Zackery; and four granddaughters, Amanda, Jane, Christine and Shannon; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Grant Gould; and two sisters, Mary Gamble and Marjorie Kerry.

<B>GOULD</B> — A memorial service for Gerald Wayne Gould, who died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Highland Presbyterian Church, Franklin Street, Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Albert Stuart, pastor of the church, officiating. Friends will be received at the Highland Church from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday.
