Diane Marie Dawson

Dawson

Diane Marie Dawson, 54, of Polk Center passed away at Presbyterian Hospital on Wednesday.

She was the daughter of the late Elmer "Doc" and Sara Green Dawson.

Diane was a forever child, and following the deaths of her parents, she became a resident of Polk Center, where she received extraordinary loving care and where she later proved to be very athletic.

Diane won several award medals in track and swimming as part of local Special Olympic events.

Recently and just prior to her illness, Diane thoroughly enjoyed a sponsored vacation trip to the Outer Banks and was similarly overwhelmed by roller coaster rides as part of a field trip to Six Flags.

Diane is survived by her aunts and uncles, Edward and Shirley Green, Mary Green Manning, Evelyn Green Gamble, Robert and Renie Green and Margaret and Joseph Friel, all of Butler.

Her warmth and humor was deeply loved by her numerous cousins.

Her brother, John "Jackie" Dawson, preceded her in death.
