William H. Shaffer, 86, of Monroe, Ohio, died Thursday at his home.

Born on June 17, 1922, in Butler, he was the son of William L. and Marian Goff Shaffer.

Mr. Shaffer worked as an accountant for Armco Steel, retiring in 1982 after 41 years. He served his country in the Army during World War II.

Mr. Shaffer is survived by his wife, Dorothy W. Williams Shaffer; two sons, Bruce W. (Beverly) Shaffer and Barry C. Shaffer; a daughter, Cynthia S. (John) Carsman; a granddaughter, Courtney B. (Brad) Kifer; two step-grandchildren, Lea G. (Dane) Zuccaro and Evan E. Carsman; a step-great-grandchild, Soren Zuccaro; special family friend, Thomas R. Goodrich; as well as many other family and friends.
