Russel Stanley Burtner, 81, of Washington, N.C., died Thursday in Berryville, Va.

Mr. Burtner was born Sept. 3, 1927, in Butler, the son of Forrest and Mary Lena Burtner.

He worked for Aquaculture Magazine in advertising.

He married Freda Holsapfel Burtner June 30, 1956, in New Castle. Surviving with his wife are a son, Jeffrey Burtner of Berryville; a daughter, Diane Conway of Charlotte, N.C.; seven brothers; four sisters; and 10 grandchildren.

Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
