Bruce D. Sockaci
Bruce D. Sockaci, 58, of New Sewickley Township died Saturday at the Good Samaritan Hospice, Wexford.
Born July 20, 1950, in Ellwood City, Bruce was a 1968 graduate of Freedom High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
As an independent truck driver, he was an owner and operator of a steel hauler. Bruce went on to work for Plunkett Motor Freight for 18 years.
He was a member of the Hungarian Club in Zelienople and was an avid NASCAR and Steelers fan.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Shaffer) Sockaci; a son, Darren Sockaci of New Sewickley Township; his mother, Norma (Reed) Boyd of New Sewickley Township; his father, Raymond Sockaci of New Sewickley Township; two sisters, Charlet Riddell (James) of Stevenson Ranch, Calif., and Marilyn Yarnell (David) of Warrenton, Va.; and three brothers-in-law, Edward Shaffer (Marolyn) of Tidioute, Jack Shaffer (Ursula) of Aliquippa and Dennis Shaffer (Judy) of Rochester. He also is survived by his two dogs, Turbo and Gizmo; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Bruce Sockaci; and his stepfather, Harry Boyd.
<B>SOCKACI</B> — A memorial service for Bruce D. Sockaci, who died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Unionville United Methodist Church, 1297 Route 68, Rochester, New Sewickley Township.
