Jan Peter Elsass

Jan Peter Elsass, who was born May 23, 1956, in Seattle died Friday.

He was the husband of Susan, father of Joshua and Jerimiah and son of the Rev. Dr. Ned and Betty Elsass.

The mustachioed, fry-cooking, "Bears-loving" fisherman from Chicago was simply more than a father. He was wed happily for 20 years to his beautiful wife. Ironically, these two met while restraining a child at their work.

Jan loved his "Bears" and his "Cubs" almost as much as he loved his boys. Over the boys' time with him, he taught them the importance of love, respect and the "Tiki Dance." The ones he has left behind will forever miss the history buff and western movie enthusiast. "Courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway." John Wayne

In addition to his wife and sons, Jan is survived by his mother, Betty; sisters, Laurie Kidney and Kim Schmitz; and brother, Scott Elsass.
