Marianna P. Colonna

Marianna P. Colonna, 88, of Media, Pa, formerly of Woodward Avenue in Kittanning, died Thursday at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media.

Born Jan. 3, 1920, in Ramseytown, Jefferson County, she was the daughter of James V. and Maria A. (Mazza) Colonna.

Marianna graduated from Kittanning High School and attended Indiana (Pa.) University.

She was employed by the Selective Service System for more than 20 years and also served as a local board supervisor. She served the BPW at the club level as president, vice president, treasurer and a number of chairmanships; on the District level as corresponding secretary, treasurer, and various chairmanships; and on the state level as elections chairman, standing rules chairman and state treasurer.

Her other affiliations include memberships in the Soroptimist Club of Armstrong County, having served as president, vice president and corresponding secretary. She also served as district director of District Four of the North Atlantic Region of the Soroptimist Federation of the Americas Inc.

A member of St. Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church, she served as the choir director and as a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She also served as choir director at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kittanning and St. Mary's Church in Yatesboro and Numine.

She was co-owner of Colonna's Music Store in Kittanning.

Marianna is survived by her two brothers, Enrico V. Colonna and his wife, Andrea, of Indiana, Pa., and James A. Colonna and his wife, Ruth, of Punxsutawney; a sister, Jeannette Schmidt and her husband, Martin, of Butler; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and her dear friend, Judge Rita Prescott.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law, Ida Colonna.

<B>COLONIA</B>— Friends of Marianna P. Colonna, who died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2008, will be received from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at the <B>Bauer Funeral Home</B>, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning. Immediately following visitation, a Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Our Lady of Guadalupe Roman Catholic Church in Kittanning with the Rev.
