Norma Margaret Kennedy, 85, of Fayetteville, Ga., formerly of Slippery Rock, died Dec. 18 at Healthfield Hospice, Riverdale, Ga.

Born June 11, 1923, in Slippery Rock, she was the daughter of Katherine (Wicks) Smith and stepdaughter to Raymond Grooms.

She was a member of the Center United Presbyterian Church of Slippery Rock, where she sang in the choir.

She graduated from the Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a registered nurse at the infirmary at Slippery Rock University until retirement.

She is survived by a sister, Catherine "Katy" Cardwell of Poland, Ohio; a daughter, Marilyn (Kennedy) Knapton of Fayetteville; four sons, Eric B. Kennedy and his wife, Marsha, of Greenville, Fred D. Kennedy of Phoenix, Ariz., Terry G. Kennedy of Everett, Wash., and James L. Kennedy of Phoenix; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wray A. Kennedy, who died June 3, 1999.
