IN BRIEF
PITTSBURGH — Two key officials in one Western Pennsylvania county can't decide who should head the county's bureau of weights and measures, which inspects gasoline pumps, grocery store scanners, commercial scales and parking meters.
Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner says her office should continue to oversee the bureau as it has since 2008.
But County Executive Rich Fitzgerald wants his office to head the bureau, saying Wagner's office should then audit whether the inspections are being performed properly.
A county council committee is considering an ordinance to put Fitzgerald in charge of weights and measures.
