Arnold V. Fonseca
Arnold V. Fonseca, 80, of Irene Drive died Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 24, 1928, in Philadelphia, a son of the late Luiz and Tereza Carvallo Fonseca and was a graduate of Bok High School in Philadelphia.
Arnold was a retired Pennsylvania State Policeman. He was commissioned a captain in 1979 and was the head of internal affairs. He worked for 33 years until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Retired Troopers Association.
He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler and the Quarterback Club.
Mr. Fonseca was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Surviving are his wife, Evangeline "Ange" Moretti Fonseca, whom he married Nov. 19, 1953. Also surviving are his children and their spouses, Terri and Dick Albert of Butler and Arnold M. and Laura Fonseca of Murrysville; and six grandchildren, Angelique, Nikalette and Gionna Fonseca, Jonathan Albert and his wife, Leah Albert, Audra Albert and Christopher Albert. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
<B>FONSECA </B>— Friends of Arnold V. Fonseca, who died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum at Butler County Memorial Park.The St. Paul Guild and Christian Mothers will meet at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday at the church to recite the rosary.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
