Net Neutrality, in it's current form, is not about "saving the internet", but about an abuse of power by a federal agency. Regardless of your opinion of Net Neutrality this current situation is a case of separation of powers between the branch's of government. Despite the lack of approval to set these rules by Congress the FCC went ahead and claimed to have jurisdiction. A Federal Court has ruled that the FCC went beyond their power in setting internet rules. The FCC has defied the court by continuing to set rules. The members of Congress are asserting their Constitutional authority to establish laws, not the Executive branch. This is a policy debate - does Congress have the sole power to enact laws or do federal agencies have the power to establish laws?? In other words, do the elected representatives of the people establish law or do the unelected bureaucrats have that authority?? If Net Neutrality is so great, then let Congress establish laws or set boundaries for the FCC to follow. When three hundred members of Congress signed letters of opposition to FCC internet regulation, that should be an indication that the FCC is out of line. When 95 candidates in the last election pledged support of internet regulation, and when all 95 lost, that shows you where the majority of people fall.
