Slippery Rock school board gains member
SLIPPERY ROCK — A new board member was sworn in at Monday's Slippery Rock Area School Board meeting.
Gregory Schiller rose from his chair and extended his hand into the air for the oath, replacing a vacancy left by Greg Angerett, who stepped away from the seat.
Schiller has lived in the district for 24 years and has two daughters going through the system.
“I'd always looked at trying to enter some form of service,” he said. “It was the perfect opportunity.”
Schiller was an investigator with the U.S. Department of Justice for 30 years. He said he has some educational experience through training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and the National Center for Explosives Training and Research.
“I have some background with some teaching experience, so it seemed to be a perfect fit,” Schiller said.
Angerett won the Region 2 seat in an unopposed race in 2019. The seat's term is for four years and began in 2020.
