James "Fred" Hennessy, 79, of Butler passed away peacefully at 9:45 p.m. Saturday at his home surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Stoneboro, April 30, 1930, the son of the late John Earl Hennessy and Wanda Mary Procner Hennessy.

Fred was an avid golfer, having belonged to the Elks Golf League at Krendale.

He retired in 1991 after 35 years as the service manager for Monroe Business Machines.

He was a Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War with the Seabees.

Surviving are his daughters, Mrs. Chuck "Judy" Dallos of Boalsburg, Pa., and Mrs. Tony "Jill" Chambers of Ravenswood, W.Va.; his son, Tim and his wife, Tina, Hennessy of Butler; seven grandsons, Matthew Dallos of State College, Christopher Chambers of Morgantown, W.Va., David Chambers of Charleston, S.C., Michael Chambers and Jonathan Chambers, both of Buckhannon, W.Va., and Cory Hennessy and Shayne Hennessy, both of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann King Hennessy, who died in 1984; and his parents.

<B>HENNESSY</B> — Friends of James "Fred" Hennessy, who died Saturday, March 13, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, Butler. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road, Meridian.
