Diehl

Matthew E. Diehl, 47, of Butler died at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born Dec. 12, 1959, in Plymouth, Mich., he was the son of Darwin E. and Cherie Archambault Diehl.

Mr. Diehl was dealer principle for Diehl Automotive Group Inc. He started his career with General Motors Pontiac Division and became general manager of Preston Motors in New Castle. In 1995, Bob Preston and Diehl bought the Trostle Team, an automotive firm.

In 2002, Diehl bought out Preston and formed the Diehl Automotive Group with dealerships on Route 8, south of Butler, and in Franklin, Venango County.

He was a member of the Butler County Chamber of Commerce, and in 2005, he was named entrepreneur of the year by the chamber, the first winner of the award.

He was a Catholic and was a Penn Township Little League coach.

Surviving are his wife, Corina Straub Diehl; a son, Matthew Straub Diehl of Butler; a daughter, Rachel Straub Diehl of Butler; his parents of Troy, Mich.; three sisters, Jennifer and her husband, Roger Templin, of Kansas, Bethann Waterstreet of Michigan and Laura and her husband, Randy Brodzik, of Michigan.

<B>DIEHL </B>— Friends of Matthew E. Diehl, who died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., with the Rev. Harry Bielewicz officiating.
