Butler man accused of stealing more than $10K from employer

A Butler man is charged with theft after stealing more than $10,000 from his East Butler employer, according to state police.

Brady Steven Shuler, 22, was charged Wednesday, July 15, with one felony count each of theft and access device fraud and misdemeanor theft following a Feb. 5 report.

Police said they were contacted Feb. 5 by an employee of Total Tank Works, a contractor in East Butler, about $10,478.65 in fraudulent transactions made from a Chase company credit card. The card was issued to Shuler for work-related expenses.

Police said they reviewed bank statements and found fraudulent transactions had occurred between July 10, 2025, and Feb. 4 at multiple smoke shops and businesses such as McDonald’s, DoorDash, Walmart, Sheetz and Butler Memorial Hospital; and multiple transactions in Tennessee.

Police said Shuler admitted to the transactions and sent a text to his employer apologizing.

Shuler’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Aug. 25 before District Judge Lewis Stoughton.
