Man charged in crash accused of blowing kisses at officers
A suspected intoxicated driver was arrested following a two-vehicle crash early Saturday in Slippery Rock Township.
State police said they also found more than 40 grams of suspected marijuana, scales and other contraband in the Jeep that Demarco G. Francis, 20, of Oil City, Venango County, was driving on Keister Road.
Francis later was accused of “blowing kisses” at officers at Grove City Medical Center, where he was taken for a blood test, and causing a disturbance at the hospital.
He was subsequently placed in the Mercer County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bond for the alleged commotion at the hospital. He is facing separate charges in that case filed by state police in Mercer.
Francis also is being held on an arrest warrant detainer for the Butler County charges. That warrant, signed by District Judge Wayne Seibel, includes felony and misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance.
Additional charges are driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, and several traffic violations.
Police said they came upon the crash about 12:45 a.m. on Kiester Road just west of Harmony Road, and found Francis standing near the Jeep Cherokee he was driving.
The investigation later determined that Francis was speeding westbound on Kiester Road, police said, and ran a stop sign before colliding with the other vehicle.
Francis was arrested for suspicion of DUI. A search of his vehicle, police said, turned up two baggies, a jar and plastic container, all containing suspected marijuana. Troopers also found two digital scale and five empty Ziploc baggies.
Police took him to Grove City Medical Center for a blood draw, which he apparently refused. While there, he “stuck his tongue out pretending to lick something,” according to charging documents, “and began blowing kisses toward officers.”
The circumstances of the subsequent disturbance at the hospital were not immediately available.
He is in the Mercer County Prison.
