The Pittsburgh Pirates’ first three selections in Thursday night’s baseball amateur draft were high school players.

The Bucs selected outfielder Austin Meadows from Loganville, Ga., with the ninth overall pick. They picked catcher Reese McGuire from Covington, Wash., with the No. 14 pick and left-handed pitcher Blake Taylor from Dana Hills. Calif., with the 51st selection.

Meadows hit .535 with 19 extra-base hits for Grayson High School this spring while McGuire hit .436 for Kentwood. They have college offers from Clemson and San Diego.
