Pittsburgh Pirates will wand fans
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Pirates say they’ll begin using metal detector wands to search fans as part of an overall effort to beef up security at PNC Park.
The team says the metal detectors will be the most visible of several additional security measures that were scheduled to begin today, as the team opens a six-game home stand against the San Francisco Giants. The team did not immediately explain why it is implementing the new policy or what other measures might be in place.
The team is asking fans to avoid bringing unnecessary metal objects to games to speed up the process.
