Gardina

Kathleen Gardina, 79, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

She was born in Butler on Jan. 16, 1947, daughter of the late George and Marcelle (Scohier) Schaffner.

Kathleen graduated from Butler High School in 1965 and furthered her education at Slippery Rock University, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Science in education in 1969. In 1973, she received her Master of Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh.

Kathleen was a member of Buttercup Garden Club and Stoughton’s Ladies Golf League.

Kathleen is survived by her stepchildren, Mellissa, Max (Courtney) and Matthew (Dawn) Gardina; grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica) Mollie, Grace, Addyson and Matthew; and great-grandchildren, Jacob and Paisley. She is also survived by her sister, Colleen Wible; and her brother, Brian (Donna).

Along with her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by her brother, Bruce.

GARDINA — All arrangements for Kathleen Gardina, who died Wednesday, July 1, 2026, were made through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.

Family and friends are invited to a blessing service at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9, in the Butler County Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.
