Douglas Schnur
Douglas Lee Schnur, 70, of Chicora, passed away in the comfort of his home and with his family at his side, on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Born Feb. 8, 1956, in Butler, he was the youngest son of the late Floyd Schnur Sr. and Ora Grenet Schnur.
He married the love of his life, Sissy Kimmel Schnur, on April 26, 1980, and together they shared 46 years of faithful marriage, raising two beautiful daughters and welcoming three cherished grandchildren.
Doug graduated from Butler High School in 1974, where he enjoyed playing football. He played local, competitive slow-pitch softball with his brothers and many friends. To know Doug was to know a man who prided himself on hard work and dedication to detail. According to his family and close friends, you would be hard-pressed to find a more well-kept lawn, cleaner vehicle or small engine he couldn’t repair. He never missed a volleyball or basketball game for his daughters throughout their high school and college careers, even showing up in his work clothes after a long day. His grandchildren became his most precious gift and he became their biggest fan, attending numerous activities and sporting events, always present with a hug and a smile.
Doug spent his workdays on the road driving truck for Pepsi, Hindman Transfer and, most recently, ABF Freight. He enjoyed delivery with a pleasant greeting and smile while building relationships and friendships that lasted well beyond his retirement in December of 2019.
He was an active member of St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church in Butler. Doug believed that the friends created at church were family and he carried them with him always. Whether opening the church and greeting parishioners at 7 a.m. Mass, working hard in the dish room at any fundraiser or volunteering at the Community Dinner, his love for community and faithful servant mentality shone brightly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sissy; two daughters whom he adored, Halee (TJ) McCance, of Butler, and Kala (Kevin) DeJuliis, of Canonsburg, Pa.; three beautiful grandchildren, Isaac, Leena and Leo; three brothers, Larry (Carol) Schnur, James (Leslie) Schnur and Jeffrey (Pam) Schnur, all of Butler; three sisters, Carol Leasure, of New Castle, Debbie Madden, of Beaver Falls, and Sherri (Mickey) Uram, of Butler; mother-in-law, Jeannette Kimmel, of Butler; and many extended family members and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd “Bud” Schnur Jr. and Guy “Butch” Schnur; and his father-in-law, Roy Kimmel.
