Joseph Blasko Jr.

Blasko

Joseph G. Blasko Jr., 75, of Meridian, passed away suddenly Wednesday, July 1, 2026. Surrounded by the love of his family and the assurance of his faith, Joe went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on June 28, 1951, in Butler, Joe was the son of the late Joseph G. Blasko Sr. and Margaret Yamnitsky Blasko.

Joe was the devoted husband of Donna, with whom he shared nearly 48 wonderful years of marriage. They were united in marriage on Sept. 23, 1978, and together built a life centered on faith, family and love. Together, they raised three children, Jen (Tim) Van Dalen, Jeremy (Leann) Blasko and Drew (Mackenzi) Blasko. Joe was an incredibly proud grandfather to Kaylee, Ashlyn, Caleb, Josiah, Gabriel, Eliana, Madison and Thea, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is also survived by his loving sister, Georgianna (Kenn) Toy; his brother, Bob (Dana) Blasko; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Joe dedicated many years of his career to Armco/AK Steel, retiring from the 2 Aisle Department in 2013. Never one to sit still, he continued working for another 10 years at Carbinite Metal Coatings, where he enjoyed staying busy and became a valued member of the Carbinite family.

A faithful member of Orchard Hill Church in Butler, Joe’s relationship with Christ shaped every aspect of his life. He found great joy serving others by helping distribute food through the church and participating in the men's Bible study alongside the men of The Hope Center. His quiet faith, servant’s heart, integrity and unconditional love for his family left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Joe found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time outdoors hunting and tending his garden. A lifelong Pittsburgh sports fan, there was never a Sunday during football season when the Steelers game wasn’t on the television. He faithfully cheered on the Pirates and Penguins as well, and always looked forward to following his favorite Pittsburgh teams.

Above all, Joe treasured time with his family. Whether gathering for holidays, celebrating life’s milestones, or simply enjoying one another’s company, those moments meant the most to him. He especially loved cheering from the stands as his grandchildren participated in sporting events and plays. Nothing brought a bigger smile to his face than watching them grow and succeed.

Though his absence leaves an immeasurable void, his family finds peace in God’s promise that Joe is now in the presence of his Savior, healed and made whole. His legacy of faith, love, hard work and devotion will continue to live on through all who had the privilege of knowing him.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
