Donald E. “Don” Lane, 92, of Butler, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 27, 2026, while under the care of Concordia at the Orchard.

Born July 20, 1933, in Butler, he was the son of the late Donald H. and Mary K. (Summerville) Lane.

Don was a graduate of Butler High School and attended Grove City College. He then went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Army. Don made his career at Armco/AK Steel as a locomotive mechanic, until his retirement in April 1996.

He was a longtime member of Hill United Presbyterian Church in Butler. Don was also a 32nd Degree Mason with the Butler Victory Lodge No. 272, a member of Shriners International and was the past president of the Butler City Hunting and Fishing Club. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting and model railroading. Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his three sons, Donald E. (Tammy) Lane Jr., David P. (Roseann) Lane and Douglas S. Lane; three grandchildren, Rebekah M. (Scott) Lane Garland, Ethan J. (Ali) Lane and Kelsey N. Lane; his brother, Dick (Nancy) Lane; his sister-in-law, Beverly (Don) Shelenberger; two nieces and three nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis M. “Phyl” Lane, whom he married April 30, 1955, and who passed away Sept. 15, 2022; and his brother, John “Jack” Lane.

LANE — Family and friends of Donald E. “Don” Lane, who died Saturday, June 27, 2026, will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, July 6, at THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 2 p.m., with the Revs. Leigh Benish and Mark Davis officiating.

He will be laid to rest at Butler County Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
