Helen M. Shaw, 92, of Pittsburgh died Thursday morning at the home of her daughter in Butler.

Born April 9, 1916, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Elizabeth I. (Magorian) Kunkler.

She had worked for Gulf Oil in Pittsburgh for 10 years until her retirement in 1980.

She was a member of Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church in Glade Mills, an avid reader, loved dogs, and enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.

Surviving are a son, Byron D. Shaw and his wife, Gale, of Pleasant Hills; two daughters, Maureen Lapinski of Moon Township and Mrs. William (Carol M.) Darney Jr. of Butler; seven grandchildren, Julie Shaw, D.J. Lapinski, Sheree Thomas, Bill Darney III, Kathy Grimm, Lisa Cupka and Daryl Darney; two step-grandchildren, Craig and Nikki Morsaint; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Byron W. Shaw, who she married in January 1939, died June 4, 1960. She also was preceded by her son-in-law, Dennis Lapinski; her brother, Frank Kunkler; and her infant sister, Rita Kunkler.

<B>SHAW</B>—<B> </B>Friends of Helen M. Shaw, who died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Geibel Funeral Home</B>, 201 E. Cunningham St. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Sepulcher Roman Catholic Church, Glade Mills. The Rev. Daniel Maurer, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery, Pittsburgh.Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Program of the Butler V.N.A., 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
