Ellen Brothers, 73, of Fenelton, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

She was born in Butler on March 16, 1953, daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Waltman) Boal.

Ellen graduated from Butler High School and she furthered her education at Edinboro and West Virginia University, receiving her master’s degree in education. She was a special education and life skills teacher at Butler High School for 25 years.

Ellen enjoyed cooking and being around family. She loved playing backgammon with her friends. Ellen was a great wife, good friend and very loving, caring and educated.

Ellen was the beloved wife of Robert Brothers, whom she married in 2008; sister of Edward (Kathy), Curtis (Donna) and Gregory (Lil) Boal; and stepmother of Presten Bartmas and Crystal (Ryan) Schindler. She is also survived by her two stepgrandchildren and her large and loving family.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepson, Robert Brothers Jr.

BROTHERS — All services for Ellen Brothers, who died Wednesday, June 17, 2026, will be held privately through SPENCER D. GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 140 New Castle Road, Butler.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
