Gerald P. McDermott, 64, of Butler, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at his home due to a medical event.

Born March 17, 1962, in Butler, he was the son of Gerald A. McDermott and Eda M. McDermott.

Jerry was a 1981 graduate of Knoch High School and also graduated from Ohio Tech. He worked for Swank Construction as a diesel mechanic, truck driver and a heavy equipment operator and as a mechanic for PMF Rentals. Jerry enjoyed building mechanical models and was an unexplained phenomenon enthusiast.

Surviving are his wife and best friend, Wendy McDermott; his brother, Karle Anderson; and three nieces, Jennifer (Kevin) Morgan, Kelly (Greg) Jerry and Victoria Hatfield-Anderson and their children, Jake, Parker, Kaden, Kendyll, Keegan, Adeline, Paxton and Wyatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Melanie Anderson.

MCDERMOTT — Friends of Gerald P. McDermott, who died Thursday, June 18, 2026, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 22, at FOX FUNERAL HOME, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jonathan Fehl officiating.

Interment will follow in Saxonburg Memorial Church Cemetery.
