Mary Ellen Snow Vandersyde, 83, of Butler, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Sunnyview Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born Jan. 17, 1943, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth L. Snow and Grace E. Slater Snow.

A 1960 graduate of Butler High School, Mary retired in 2014 after working more than 22 years as a customer service representative at Northwest Consumer Discount Company.

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.

She is survived by her two children, Mary Catherine Alburg and her husband, John, of Brookville, Pa., and Kenneth Vandersyde and his wife, Tina, of East Butler; three grandchildren, Sarah Poole and her husband, Nate, Hannah Kitzko and her husband, A.J., and Noah Vandersyde and his wife, Shannon; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Tom Snow and his wife, Debbe, of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George J. Vandersyde, whom she married Dec. 28, 1963, and who passed away Aug. 17, 2017; one brother, Nicholas Snow; and one sister, Patricia Miro.

VANDERSYDE — Friends of Mary Ellen Snow Vandersyde, who died Wednesday, June 17, 2026, will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 21, at MARTIN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, at All Saints Parish, St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 128 N. McKean St., Butler, with the Rev. John J. Baver officiating.

Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
