Dennis James ‘DJ’ Springer II

Springer

It is with the deepest sadness that we share that Dennis James “DJ” Springer II, of Zelienople, passed away Friday, June 12, 2026, surrounded by all his children and family.

DJ was born Sept. 24, 1959. He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis James “Denny” Springer. He is survived by his mother, Martha Jane “Janie” Springer (Bender).

Left behind to share stories and continue his legacy are his five children, whom he loved with all his heart, Shannon (Philip) Marchetti, Dennis “Jimmy” III (Sofia) Springer, Heather (Sam) Schurer, Dillon Springer and Ryan Springer. He was also the dearly loved grandfather of Theodore Marchetti, Malcolm Marchetti, Josephine Marchetti, Eloise Springer and Ta’vaya Schurer.

He also leaves behind his brother, Eric (Denise) Springer; and niece and nephews, Zachary “Zack” (Taylor) Springer, Stephanie Springer and Matthew Springer.

DJ was a 1977 graduate of Seneca Valley High School and a 1981 graduate of Westminster College.

While his children and family were central to his life and identity, he also loved the Steelers, golfing, skiing, cracking jokes, riding his bike around town, sipping coffee on his back deck and the beloved longtime friendships he shared with those from his childhood, college years and professional career.

He was the proud and very accomplished owner of Springer Company Inc. (which was founded by his grandfather, James C. Springer, in the 1940s) and dedicated his professional life to supporting the steel industry across the globe. DJ was a deeply respected and widely known figure in the industry and he developed countless friendships with his business partners and customers during his 45-year career. That legacy is to be carried on by his son, Ryan, who worked alongside him for several years.

SPRINGER — Family and friends of Dennis James “DJ” Springer II, who died Friday, June 12, 2026, are invited to a celebration of life at Butler Country Club, where he was a third-generation member since 1971, from 4 to 7 p.m. July 10. Please RSVP to his family before July 3 if planning to attend.
