Daniel Casey Sr.

Casey

Daniel Brian Casey Sr., 75, of Butler, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

Born in Butler on Jan. 11, 1951, during a blizzardlike storm, he was the son of the late John Charles Casey and Belva Irene (Kinch) Casey.

Dan worked for ISM and later retired from A. Stucki Company. His mechanical aptitude, ingenuity and practical engineering skills made him a trusted leader throughout his career. Dan applied his talents to designing equipment and improving operations across the United States and abroad. Colleagues knew him as someone who could solve problems others could not.

In between, he fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own sporting goods store, where he worked alongside family and shared his knowledge and enthusiasm for hunting, fishing and the outdoors with his customers. Dan collected a lifetime of friends, from childhood companions to co-workers and customers, hunting and fishing buddies, and fellow golfers, bowlers and bikers.

Dan was the loving father of two children, Angela Geither and her husband, James, of Butler, and Daniel Casey Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Hermitage, Pa.

He was “Papa Dan” to five grandchildren, Amanda Geither and her husband, Kevin Cloudt, Haden Geither, Warren Geither, Hunter Casey, and Libby Asche and her husband, Josiah. He took special pride in being Papa Dan and treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to children and grandchildren, Dan is survived by his former wife and mother of their children, Rosann. He is also survived by three brothers, Timothy P. Casey and his wife, Joanne; John Michael Casey and his wife, Diana; and Kevin P. Casey and his wife, Tina; two sisters, Patricia A. Deal and Cecelia M. Myers and her husband, Kirk; and a sister-in-law, Lisa L. Casey. “Uncle Dan” loved his 15 nieces and nephews, and he enjoyed watching the next generation of the family grow. Dan and his siblings grew up in a close-knit family, sharing childhood adventures, lifelong bonds and lasting memories with their many cousins who lived nearby.

Family and friends often joked that he had nine lives, and over the years he proved them right. Through every challenge, he remained resilient, independent and determined. In his later years, even though declining health limited many of the activities he had long enjoyed and made it harder to stay connected, Dan was grateful for all the relationships he built throughout his life. Through it all, his Irish eyes never lost their sparkle and that hint of mischief family and friends knew so well.

In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas A. Casey; his grandnephew, Jesse Thomas Neff; his sister-in-law, Gretchen A. Getty Casey; and his brother-in-law, Charles A. Deal.

CASEY — Respecting his wishes, there was no visitation for Daniel Brian Casey Sr., who died Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Burial in Butler County Memorial Park was private.

Arrangements were entrusted to the care of MARTIN FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
