James L. Delaney, 91, of Karns City, Perry Township, Armstrong County, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 10, 2026, at Quality Life Services — Sugar Creek, in Worthington.

James was born in Petrolia on May 1, 1935. He was the son of the late Joseph T. and Minnie Duespohl Delaney. He was a 1953 graduate of Fairview Township-Karns City High School and had been employed for many years at Sonneborn in Petrolia. Jim retired in 1997 from the boiler house. He enjoyed woodworking and mowing his lawn. He was a longtime member of the Queenstown United Methodist Church.

Jim was preceded in death by his wives, Eleanor J. Bishop Delaney, whom he married at Crisswell on July 17, 2010; Nancy Schreffler Hinton Delaney; and Marjorie Kelly Delaney.

Jim is survived by his stepchildren, Linda Weigle, of Slippery Rock, Larry Hogan, of East Brady, Sandra Zeitler and her husband, Dr. Joseph, of Kennerdell, Susan Bowser and her husband, Ab, of Kittanning, and Amy Tascarella and her husband, Dan, of Gadsden, Ala.; 11 stepgrandchildren, and a number of stepgreat-grandchildren, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Lloyd, Lester, Lemoine and Leslie Delaney; and a sister, Leona Rottman.

DELANEY — Friend of James L. Delaney, who died Wednesday, June 10, 2026, will be received from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, at HILE FUNERAL HOME OF KARNS CITY, 128 Main St., Karns City. A funeral service will be follow at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Floyd Barnhart, retired United Methodist pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, in Chicora.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Delaney’s name may be made to the Queenstown United Methodist Church, c/o Janet M. Shawkey-Sandifer, 347 Hillville Road, Karns City, PA 16041.
