Old Y to be site of fitness studio

JACKSON TWP — A new health and fitness studio will take over the space in the Knoechel Heating building on Route 19 that was previously occupied the Southwest Butler County YMCA.

The fitness business will be operated by Kelly Riddle, who told the township supervisors Thursday night it will be a fitness studio and not a workout gym.

Township code enforcement officer Sam Skorich said the business was a private proprietorship operated by Riddle and likely wouldn't be a chain-type fitness center, he said.

The fitness center will be at 22412 Perry Highway, Suite A, which had been the area's YMCA facility until the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA opened in Cranberry Township several years ago.

Riddle told the supervisors no structural changes would be made to the space and no fitness equipment would be part of her operation.

Rather, aerobic-type and fitness classes would be conducted such as yoga, cardiovascular exercises and fitness classes for children.
